What is Wippit?

Wippit is a music service with a difference. Our aim is to deliver digital music at the best possible price and with the utmost flexibility. It might be that Wippit has music of the same music as some other sites out there (though we do have one or two little exclusives!), but Wippit is more likely to offer it to you at anything from a 70% discount and on a more friendly format (we sell twice as many MP3s as other formats). And Wippit subscribers get access at no extra cost to a selection of 60,000, of which 10,000 of these are not available to regular customers and a discount on the other million or tracks that we have for sale.

What music has Wippit got?

Do I need to Subscribe?

No, but subscribers get Unlimited Downloads, access to extra content that is not available to non-subscribers and pay no more for it and a discount on the majority of other tracks. A Wippit annual subscription costs less than the price of 5 CD’s so it’s not a bad deal. And once you download a song its yours to keep, even if your subscription expires. How much is Wippit?

You can either purchase single downloads from 29p or subscribe to Wippit Unlimited Downloads for £4.99 a month or £50 a year.

Tell me about Wippit Subscription and Unlimited Downloads? What have you got?

Wippit has a constantly changing selection of 60,000 songs inclusive to subscribers for £4.99 a month or £50 a year. That’s enough to fill twelve 20Gb iPods full of permanent downloads! (Remember, you download it, they’re yours to keep). Its easy to find what MP3s subscribers can get for no extra cost as they're all marked with one of these little red S's à . I’m a subscriber, but some things I want to download are not available to me for free.

Not every song on Wippit is available at no extra cost to subscribers, but many are discounted to subscribers and can be denitrified by one of these little green S's à . There are always 60,000 songs to choose from at no extra cost and with the subscribers discount it’s most likely that the songs that are not inclusive to subscribers are cheaper on Wippit than anywhere else by a long, long way.

I’m not in the UK, can I use Wippit?

Oh yes you can. It’s not the called the World Wide Web for nothing! Of course, every country gets access to locally tailored content and it’s in your local currency wherever possible. If we’re not showing your local currency the product is priced in US Dollars. 

Do I need to register?

Yes you do, but it’s OK, it’s free! Some of the music files we provide are password protected so you'll need to be registered to play them. And if you are buying single downloads and register you'll only need to add your payment details once. Return visits will get you music in just a couple of clicks without loads of fussy form filling.

How can I pay?

You can pay by credit or debit card and if you have a mobile phone you can pay by SMS too. Please note that this is presently only available Wippit users in the UK only and there is a minimum purchase rate of £1.50 per SMS.

Do you have MP3's?

We do. We also have WMA's which are Windows operating system specific and require a Wippit registration in order to play them. In fact its highly likely that we’ll your favourite act on iPod ready MP3 right now.

What can I do with the files? Burn them to CD?

You can burn them to CD, transfer to your portable media player, stream them to network media player or just enjoy them from your PC. Wippit MP3 files are iPod compatible and completely unrestricted. WMA files can be transferred to any Windows compatible portable player but not iPod’s. We recommend you burn WMA files to CD using Windows Media Player 9 or higher.

Say that again – they’re iPod compatible?

Wippit’s MP3 files are iPod compatible but the WMA’s are not. If you’d prefer to search for only MP3’s you can do so using the File Format option on Wippit Advance Search.

What Operating Systems do you support?

Windows XP, 2000, ME and 98 users will find the greatest compatibility, but Mac and Linux users will be restricted to enjoying our MP3 catalogue only. (Like that’s a problem!)

Do I have to fill in the licence details every time I download a WMA file?

No. You only have to fill the licence in the first time you play a track and only then for the first track you download each session.

Is Wippit still using P2P?

No, Wippit is currently not running our P2P protocols, instead we’re allowing downloads direct from the web site.

Where are my files stored?

Login to your account at http://www.wippit.com/Myaccount.aspx visit Current Download or Download History section and then click on album / movies from where you will be able to download your ordered track.
