LIKE HOT CAKES
Following the last Wippit Newsletter the new Bjork album, Volta nearly sold out.
Well it would have done if we were selling it on crusty CD and not
shiny new MP3. If you haven't added it to your collection yet we
can't recommend it highly enough. It's a true return to form.
We think it might be the recent Stiff revival that's caused it,
but the Madness video for
Shame & Scandal is proving very popular this week with
subscribers. Why not, it's free.
For those of you that have a mobile phone (yes you!), we've added
40,000 new ringtones in the last week. And not just any old
ringtones. Wippit
Ringtones are lovingly made by you from the original recordings
of the hippest tracks. Check it out by clicking this icon when it appears next to your favourite track and have
a play around for free.
Now check below what we have for you this week and tell us you're
not getting your weekly £1.25's worth!

Not only has Dizzee Rascal transcended genres (he's been
collaborating with Lily Allen and Arctic Monkeys recently, and
who can forgot his involvement in just about the only innovative part
of the Band Aid 20 single?), but he's also managed to escape the
'Mercury curse' after winning the Prize in 2003. And yet despite now
being on his third album, he's still only 22. Sirens
brings Dizzee blaring back to our stereos in style, and with grungy
guitars blending with Dizzee's instantly recognisable
vocal style, this is a thrilling single from a great hope of the
British hip-hop
scene. Watch out for forthcoming album "Maths and English" (which we
hear is pretty darn amazing), coming to Wippit soon.

Chungking |
Brandishing sleazy and shameless pop, Chungking are here to make an
impression. Former couple Jessie Banks and Sean Hennessey (who first
released the chilled debut album The
Hungry Years way back in 2003) recorded this above a pub in
Brighton. The lead single from the forthcoming album Stay
Up Forever is Love Is Here To Stay - a proper glam pop classic
dripping with attitude. Fans of Scissor Sisters and Mika are advised to look this way.

With Leonard
Cohenesque lyrics, The
National come growling out of New York. But with orchestral
accompaniments in the form of strings, woodwind and brass, this is
very a much a mature sound. We particularly like
Ada but their previous album Alligator
is well worth a listen too.
