The Beatles

We said there'd be more, and here it is. Wippit subscribers will be the first for more than forty years to see The Beatles Across America, a fascinating documentary including interviews with The Beatles and those around them at the most controversial point of their career, when John Lennon let it slip that he thought they were more popular than Jesus. This may be the only time you'll see a Imperial Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan voice his opinions on pop music and is a must for music buffs and pop historians everywhere. The Mighty Roars

We like boy/girl power-pop trios, so when we heard about The Mighty Roars we were very excited. After a series of disastrous dealings with the baddies of the music industry, the band decided to go it alone and record the whole thing themselves in Wales. Apparently (and we read this on the internet, so it must be true) guitarist Martin nearly died in a housefire and Swedish frontwoman Lara smells of bacon. Enjoy!

Hayseed Dixie

From the surprise opener, the Sex Pistol's Holidays in the Sun, it could all cause further confusion. Hayseed Dixie are clearly accomplished musicians, so why be a novelty act doing yee-haw versions of pop and rock classics? Banjo fuelled versions of Cliff's Devil Woman, Strawberry Fields and Paint It Black don't help the case at first. Then, it falls into place and makes complete sense. Hayseed Dixie are great musicians and these versions along with their own compositions are brilliant interpretations, showing that only a blade of bluegrass separates Punk from Country, Pop from Western. And we're sure that their version of Scissor Sisters I Don't Feel Like Dancing is far superior to the original (and doesn't have a faux George Michael bit in the middle!)

Hanson

Whatever happened to Hanson? We know it's a question that's been plaguing us every since we last heard a certain song. It turns out they've actually written and released a series of albums which have been cruelly overlooked. Now they're back, and the critics are hailing them as "the best straight-up rock band in America" which is quite something. So 'Go' on, give it a 'Go' (sorry).
